Legacy School Bangalore - I am liking it!

When our little one turns two, it's time to wake up for school admissions in Bangalore!! Once we chose Hennur road LSB is the school we wanted to try first!

We were attracted for the following reasons:
  • They have their own play ground which was our primary criteria for school!
  • Campus is beautiful, neat, bright, modern and clean!
  • Montessori method of education for first 3 years - This is what we were looking for!
  • There is an importance given to understanding!
  • Student teacher ratio is ideal here!
  • From their website we knew they are trying to do things differently!
Admission process:
  • Enrolled for admission in their website
  • Followed the school in their FB page - This is how we came to know they are giving admission forms one weekend! Aspiring parents keep checking here as well! Although, heard from fellow parents that they got an email!
  • One Saturday the admission form was distributed. One week time was given to submit the filled admission form!
  • Week later we submitted the filled in form. The admission form also asked for a write up about what our expectations are about the school.
About a week later we were invited to visit the school campus. There they explained their mission, methodology of teaching etc. Their syllabus(IGCSE) ... how it's better. The management team is dynamic and energetic. They have a young director, well experienced Principal. They are all friendly and knowledgeable!

After they explained all this, we were asked to sign up in a form if we are still interested! We were, so we signed in there!

In the next couple of days, we were invited with the child for evaluation of the child. If the child is not comfortable, they allow us as well to enter the montessori classroom with them! My little one wasn't very fluent in English so they asked to accompany! They asked very simple questions, shapes, colors, numbers etc. Don't worry too much about what your kid will do, they didn't seem to really care about right answers. It's all about following simple instructions, whether the kid is ready for school...They were all kind and sweet!

After all this, in about 2-3 days we were called for final interview. Parents alone, there we get a chance to question or discuss again about school. They get clarified on their observations on kid and thats it! We got the admission! Yipee!!!

I liked:
  • Most of these visits are scheduled during weekends which is very convenient!
  • Everything is based on appointment and schedule!
  • They kept things transparent.
  • The admission team has a Child psychologist, Principal and chairman.
  • All communications are through internet/email etc. Suits me!
Now after so many months... my little one wore that cute uniform and started going to school:
  • They gave time for the kids to settle... so no crying and all! First week one parent can be with them!
  • Very friendly and kind teachers with lot of energy and enthusiasm!
  • Helpers are always ready to help!!
  • Kids love to go to school. They keep up their words on treating it as second home!

I copied all the files and cleaned up vado from machine itself.

Then it kept on saying memory is full though there were no files.

Pregnancy - Is it sickness?

One fine October morning in Bangalore saw two pink lines and confirmed my pregnancy last year! I am due this June! We were staying far away from office (about 20kms) from office, and pregnancy got the welcome change. We all(including inlaws) moved closer to work place.

From pregnancy side, I didn't feel any different except some little more hunger everyday! Had two servings of fruits and met doctor regularly. Apart from that there was no change. I worked every single day the same way I used to.

First trimester was a breeze. Never had morning sickness or anything of that start. Then second trimester started. Still I was doing the same. Ate,slept, worked the same. Things have been smooth so far.

Today I am on my 10th month, I have started working from home. I don't feel any different either. Yes I get tired, but anyway I sleep a little more in the morning. I find working as good stress buster and nice way of spending time.

But funnily, whoever I meet have been asking whether I am working? Why haven't I taken off? When will I resign? Seriously, none of these thoughts occurred to me! Again, it is not just the oldies asking me such questions, it is people of my age group as well. I have seen many of them who have quit as well or taken loooong vacation.

When I see my mom and her generation, they haven't been such fuzzy about being pregnant and working. We call ourselves as progressive women and actually not progressing?? Has our jobs become tougher? I don't really think so. We have better work environment. We have convenient work places with water, food,AC etc. etc. Our moms when they were pregnant went to their office after they cooking food packing it and running to catch bus etc. Their work/home stress was much more higher than us. They never had inlaws who were understanding. Who supported them or their work. Very few of them had husband who would treat them as pals. I think we now have all this in hand. We get food at work or some cook arrives and cooks for us or dabba service.

But when I look around, I think there were more working women population who were struggling at Mom's time than now. Pregnancy test positive ... first send leave letter! Why are we doing it? Can't we manage? Is our will power so less than those women? Then were are we progressing?

I do understand for few cases getting up itself would be struggle, but for most after first trimester it all gets only better.

One more point the new moms have, who will take care of baby? Who took care of you when your mom went for work? Some maid? Inlaws? parents? Find similar support. If you are sure of going back to work, then solutions would fall in place!

It is ok to perform little lesser one year for the baby. I am somehow not very convinced about quitting job.

Yesterday I met my doctor in Trichy. Doctor Kasthuri. 70 years of age and at peak of her carrer. People from far places come to see her and the come at early morning 4 am-5am. I went at 5.30 and got token 25. Only first 30 tokens are seen by her.

When my turn came I told her, that I am working from home now and would like to continue till June first, she told you continue even after that. It is rare these days to see such a breed which works till day of delivery. How true? All my friends who are pregnant at same time, have already quit or didn't take up job after marriage itself. Sitting at home. Chatting, TV .... waste of time thatz all!

Now a days house work also doesn't demand so much of time. It is fine if that satisfies you. But personally I love to go to work. It is kind of identity and that is where I feel I have really done something! I think if you are women of my kind if you try job you would like it!

Ladies, don't give up so easily! Pregnancy is not disease! It is part of our growth! Like mensuration! Don't take your mind off what you want to do with life by these small things! Baby will grow! If you are sure of what you want, all solutions woutld fall in place! Job is not about only money! Its pride, confidence, feel good! identity and much more! Have a job! Make better use of your time! Don't be sick! Look at the previous generation! They had more problems than us! They have broken the barriers and have come! We are challenged by them, we need to do something to break their records! Lets do it! All the best! Think over!
